SERVICE AWARD OBJECTIVE

To recognize NAE4-HYDP members for significant accomplishments in various stages of a career and for contributions to the 4-H Youth Development profession.

ENTRY SPECIFICATIONS FOR ALL SERVICE AWARDS

1.    Selection of Service award winners is done at the discretion of each state/affiliate Association. Contact your local Association for instructions on how to apply.

2.    State Member Recognition Contacts are responsible for entering information for selected winners.  

3.    Required information to be submitted for all Service awards includes:

  • Name, Address, State, Region, and email address
  • A 25-50 word biographical summary to be printed in the program.
  • Digital photo – preferably a high quality head shot.

4.    Late or incomplete entries will not be recognized.

SPECIFIC SELECTION CRITERIA

Achievement in Service Award (ASA)

Recipients receive plaques

Specific Rules:

1.    Any current member of NAE4-HYDP who has paid dues for a minimum of the immediate two consecutive years prior to the current year may apply provided he/she has served more than three (3) years but less than seven (7) years in Extension 4-H Youth Development Programs.

2.    ASA quota is based on total paid membership including living life members received/paid by January 31 of current year. 

3.    States or units (NIFA, National 4-H Council, International countries/territories, etc.) may select one ASA recipient for every 50 paid members or part thereof (1-50 members = 1 ASA; 51-100 members = 2 ASA; and so on).

Distinguished Service Award (DSA)

Specific Rules:

1.    Any current member of NAE4-HYDP who has paid dues for a minimum of the immediate two consecutive years prior to the current year may apply provided he/she has served more than seven (7) years or more in Extension 4-H Youth Development Programs.

2.    Members recommended must be actively engaged in Extension youth programs as of the date the selections are made.

3.    DSA quota is based on total paid membership including living life members received/paid by January 31 of current year. 

4.    States or units (NIFA, National 4-H Council, International countries/territories, etc.) may select one DSA recipient for every 50 paid members or part thereof (1-50 members = 1 DSA; 51-100 members = 2 DSA; and so on)

Meritorious Service Award (MSA)

Specific Rules:

1.    Any current member of NAE4-HYDP who has paid dues for a minimum of the immediate four (4) consecutive years prior to the current year may apply provided he/she has served 15 or more years in Extension 4-H Youth Development Programs.

2.    Applicant must have demonstrated innovative youth programming and leadership in
NAE4-HYDP at the state, regional and/or national level.

3.    Applicant must have previously received the NAE4-HYDP Distinguished Service Award and include the year it was awarded on their application.

4.    NAE4-HYDP membership records will be based on January 31 of current year.

5.    States/Units/International Countries/Territories, Etc. may select one MSA recipient each year.

25 Years of Service Award

Recipients receive plaques

Specific Rules:

1.    All current NAE4-HYDP members who have completed 25 years or more of service as of January 31, 2021, to Extension 4-H Youth Development Programs and are working during the current year may be recognized at the NAE4-HYDP annual meeting. 

2.    Dues must be paid for at least the immediate four (4) consecutive years prior to the current year.

3.    The required criteria is to be checked by states or units (NIFA, National 4-H Council, International countries/territories, etc.).

4.    There is no limit on the number of recipients a state or unit may recognize at the National level.
